Bonsai trees are perfectly normal species of trees that are miniaturized by a variety of methods. Nature often does the same thing to trees, and in fact nature was the original inspiration for bonsai. Bonsai trees can be very beautiful, and an inspiration for meditation on life, nature, and aesthetics.

Care Instruction

Watering

Our goal is to maintain consistent moisture in the soil at all times. It's acceptable for the soil to experience slight drying between waterings, but it should not be allowed to completely dry out. During hot summer weather, you may find it necessary to water it on a daily basis.

Light

Full-spectrum light is important for bonsai that are a fruiting or flowering species. Both LED lights and HID lights provide full-spectrum light. However, you can buy fluorescent lights that provide dual spectrum light, they just aren't as common.

Potting Mix

The most common components for Bonsai soil mixtures are Akadama, Pumice, Lava rock, organic potting compost, and fine gravel also known as grit. From left to right; organic potting compost, Akadama, Pumice, and lava rock.

Fertilizer

For outdoor Bonsai we recommend using a relatively high Nitrogen content fertilizer like NPK 10:6:6. in spring, a more balanced fertilizer like NPK 6:6:6 is more optimal for summertime, and a low Nitrogen fertilizer like NPK 3:6:6 for autumn.
